Director’s Bio
wide distribution. Furthermore, over the past decade, Mr. Ferguson has written and directed numerous short films. He is currently in development of a feature film project.
JWJ Ferguson spent his childhood in both Belgium and Connecticut. He was exposed to cultural differences and divergent perceptions at an early age. It is this, he believes, that provoked not only his career as a filmmaker, but also his study of philosophy (at the top rated program at the University Of Pittsburgh). To him, philosophy and filmmaking are inextricably linked.
In the past several years, Mr. Ferguson has become highly respected in the film community in Louisiana (which has recently been rated the number one secondary market to produce a film). Ferguson served as co-moderator of the New Orleans Film Meetup group, the largest such group in the world with over 1,000 members. He has taught courses in film production and he has curated film series at museums and film festivals and has spoken on various film panels including for the State of Louisiana. Mr. Ferguson has also served as a juror to film festivals and as a panelist for the Louisiana Endowment of the Humanities.
Mr. Ferguson, with his company SvetShop, made Wingbuilder, the contest-winning music video for Pearl Jam's Gone commissioned by RCA and J Records. SvetShop also recently completed The Zeppelin Parable, a 35mm short film based on the story by NY Times best selling author Jonathan Lethem (which premiered at the Mill Valley Film Festival in October, 2008 and won top prize at the New Orleans Film Festival and the Best Drama Award at the Big Easy Film Festival).
He now shares his time between Barcelona, Spain and the USA on a quest to complete his feature film.
